A strong buy!

In my long search for a backup/restore utility for my Windows machines, I´ve tried just about everything I could get my hands on ... What I had been wanting was the ability to boot into a non-Windows system to do a full backup, but still be able to use that same backup to restore just the file I accidentally dumped in a mad disk cleaning frenzy. So why am I so excited about something as mundane as a backup/restore utility? I travel a lot and have had many disk drives die out on me. I don´t want to have to dig around for my Windows License key. I don´t want to be forced into a single vendor solution, and most importantly, I´d like a restore utility that gives me back a machine ready to go without forcing me into repairing various applications.

One of the easiest-to-use

FarStone´ Snapshot is one of the easiest-to-use hard drive imaging and backup offerings on the market. The software installs in seconds and provides useful, quick data-transfer capabilities.

WOW...about freaking time!!

More to the point, Snapshot still gives me everything that I decided I liked in the old Restore IT product, but added some features that has me scratching my head, wondering why I so rarely see these features in their competitor´s products. Like: incremental file backups that can now be categorized (picture files, music, desktop folder, video, etc) and will ask you how many different versions of duplicate files you wish to keep....WOW...about freaking time!!

Snapshot works in three modes and adds some useful utilities

Snapshot can write system back-ups, as well as file backups, to secondary internal drives, external USB devices, burnable CDs/DVDs, and even over a LAN to a network drive. It does it all very quickly with compression set to Medium. A Linux-based boot disc allows for restoring from all modes and from all sources, even if Windows won´t boot.

Snapshot software makes cloning disk drives and partitions easy

Simply navigate the cloning application´s short wizard, and within minutes you have fully functioning cloned disks ready to deploy. Better yet, FarStone has included simple backup functionality within Snapshot. Thus, IT professionals receive not only a powerful image drive application, but additional options for regularly completing data backups.

Antivirus products fail but Farstone's products never fail

I am Sathya from South India (chennai). I own a Cyber Cafe, so I use restore IT and TotalRecovery. Customers always tend to install unwanted programs with viruses, especially spydawn and adware, which cannot be removed by any software and is time consuming. I use different antivirus but some how, viruses enter and corrupt my operating systems. I use TotalRecovery to restore the systems. With out Farstone products I can't run my business smoothly. Antivirus products fail but Farstone's products never fail.

FARSTONE SNAPSHOT (RESTOREIT) SAVED THE DENTIST´S FILES

This is a note of praise and gratitude for producing such a fantastic product application. In truth, I have never written a letter such as this (I am not easily impressed) but your software just saved me so many hours of grief and aggravation that I am ecstatic. RestoreIT was one of the few software inclusions when I bought my system. To be honest I never really gave it much thought and had no real clue as to its powerful capabilities. This evening, I installed an update to my dental practice management software. I have about 800 megabytes of data alone...a substantial amount. The update turned out to be flawed and in minutes my entire directory had been overwritten wiping out all my data and replacing it with default files. I was looking at having to uninstall the update, re-install the old CD and then obtain a download of my most recent backup from my off-site service. On a whim, before I threw in the towel, I tried the restore function for the first time on RestoreIT. I was amazed! Within just a few minutes, EVERYTHING was back to its original place and WORKING. I cannot thank you enough! I will most certainly be recommending this software application to all my colleagues.

FARSTONE SNAPSHOT (RESTOREIT) SAVED HIS VIDEO AND MUSIC FILES

As a professional videographer, I have two PC-based video editing suites that are my life blood. The system hard drive on one of my systems was completely full, so I had to replace it with a larger capacity drive. The upgrade was carried out by a local techie, who copied my data files from the old drive to the new one, but did not install RestoreIT. Within two months, the new drive crashed with absolutely no way of recovering the data.

Fortunately (or so I thought), I still had the old system drive to fall back on. When I installed this drive, to my horror I started getting Page File Size errors. I had a whole library of royalty free music and video stock footage files that would have been lost. The thought of having to completely rebuild my system drive and reinstall all the hardware drivers that were needed completely freaked me out. I had an urgent project for a major client that I had to produce.

Anyway, FarStone came to the rescue. I remembered that I had RestoreIT on my old drive, so I just clicked to restore to the most recent backup point and sure enough the drive came right back up. I now had a working (but full) system drive. My next challenge was to transfer everything on my only system drive to a new larger capacity drive, and again FarStone came to the rescue with TotalRecovery. Within a couple of hours, I had a new working system drive that was an exact clone of my old drive. I was able to get my system back up and running on my own, and got my Customer Success Stories for RestoreIT 2 major client urgent project finished on time and ready for them to collect the next day.

None of this would have happened without the FarStone suite of products. It really was a potential disaster that without FarStone would have taken weeks and thousands of dollars to recover, not to mention the lost revenue while my system got repaired - and the possibility of losing a major client. You saved my systems, and from now on every PC I use will have RestoreIT installed. You guys have a great product. Thanks to the team over there.

SNAPSHOT (RESTOREIT) SAVED MY FILES AND MAYBE EVEN MY JOB!

I have to share my story with you. I live in Cyprus, and FarStone´s RestoreIT was pre-installed on a computer I purchased. Until today, I didn´t realize what it did.

I´m a digital video editor. Just after I downloaded software I needed to evaluate, my computer crashed. The last time I had felt this bad was when I lost the science championship in high school!

As I rebooted my computer, I saw the message from RestoreIT: 'Press Spacebar To Restore'. I wasn´t sure the program would work, but I'm writing to you now to tell you that everything is perfect! Amazing! I´m so glad I had RestoreIT on my computer, and I thank you so much for saving my files and maybe even my job! I love you guys!

FARSTONE SNAPSHOT (RESTOREIT) RETURNED HIS SYSTEM TO NORMAL

Today I tried to download a new driver. It turned out to be the wrong item and ruined the display. I tried to remove it without success. However, RestoreIT saved me. The system was restored to normal. I love FarStone.

KITTY FIXED THE PC USING FARSTONE SNAPSHOT (RESTOREIT)

This month after downloading an application update I had to restart my computer. During the reboot my heart hit the floor because I hadn´t burned off a copy of our Christmas pictures and an error message "Cannot load operating system" appeared. OH NO! I can´t believe this is happening. Unfortunately, I didn´t know how to do the Customer Success Stories for RestoreIT 3 restore because RestoreIT came with my new system and I never paid any attention to it. Now I really needed a backup of my total system. The loss of the pictures was unfortunate, but four days of reloading applications and downloading updates was time I couldn´t afford.

I contacted a technician I knew to set up my system again. He suspected a virus or a hard drive failure. A virus? I have all the good stuff: spyware blocker, a name-brand firewall and antivirus, and a popup blocker also. How could this happen? Before I would turn my system over to him, I wanted to try to salvage my pictures. I reversed my master/slave setting for my two hard drives and loaded my operating system. I copied my picture files to the now designated master drive. At this time I reversed the drives again so that I could format and reinstall my software. As the system rebooted, my new kitten who loves to walk on my keyboard and desk to play with the cursor, jumped from my lap to the keyboard drawer and briefly stood on the space bar. . . as if by magic my system booted, loaded the operating system and worked like always.

I couldn´t believe a restore program could be so simple that even a kitten could do it!
